
Every so often I like to re-enter the world of straightforward Classical song. This piece is a "Romanesca" (a popular 16th century song style) wickedly played by Junghae Kim on harpsichord. The lyrics are the work of Edward de Vere (1550-1604 Elizabethan poet and courtier). My adaptation does away with many of the standard trills and presents the song as if sung by a local guy in the tavern and in a more relaxed and contemporary vocal style. Song-writing over the centuries still extols the virtues of Love, as does this oldie. To listen- click here:
